Mulloway

Just planning to catch my first mulla, but just want to know if they are tasty or not because there is no point chasing them.
And how would I kill it
thanks FISH-ON

Bleed it asap, and straight

Bleed it asap, and straight on ice.. as with anything i guess..

The one we got tasted really good (from the ocean) , couple of biiiig fillets off him too.

Dont expect to just go out , target them, and catch one though !!

Many , many fishless nights for us before we got our first, well over 80 hours at the spot we got it , let alone the other spots we fish!

Do the old ikjimi for a quick

Do the old ikjimi for a quick kill...spike straight into the brain. Worth eating IMO. Only got smaller models but the last one I had was delicious. Not sure how they go once they get into XOS territory but depends if you release them or not (or if they actually survive).

Yeh, most mullas pulled from

Yeh, most mullas pulled from water say 7m+ dont release well apparently, they suffer from barotrauma, Id keep my first if I ever got one, treated it right like said above, spike it, bleed it, ice it and get the 'jewels' (ear bones) out for a souvenir, my mate got one off the beach a few months back, tasted great he said
