Must Haves!!!

I was going through the gear for an upcomming fishn trip and culling some stuff. The question came about do I really need this or that. And then the question what wouldnt I go fishing without. So a must have for me when I go fishing or something I couldnt do without would be my trusty rusty pliers and braid scissors....

Would be interesting to see what other peoples must haves are?

Gear

Sat, 2010-03-06 19:28

Doing a training run with sea rescue and we had to wait for 20 minutes for the other boats to arrive, sitting in the middle of a school of tuna and not a line on board.Had a couple of lures in the side pocket but NOTHING to put them on.
Aside from the essential safety gear and normal fishing stuff are polaroids and a sharp knife

does your partner give lessons. sounds like mine needs some more training..haha. leaving the rods at home sucks.. One time a fair crew of us went for a rock fish. A 20km drive and a 3 km walk and climb later we were on location rigging up. Awesome spot. Dived into the backpack to get a reel out. Shite. no reels. had the rods but no reels. It was a long day..hhh

Matches

Sun, 2010-03-07 21:13

If doing an overnighter land based Matches!!

Years back a mate, who I hadn't seen for a few years, arranged a 3 day trip down to White point over the phone. When we were all set up I asked for his matches to light the fire as I'd given up smoking years back only to be told he didn't smoke any more as well.

Bugger, here we are miles from anywhere all set up and nothing to light the fire with.

Well we took a page out of Mc Guiver's book and drained a bit of petrol out on a rag and connected a couple of wires to the battery and shorted them out to ignite the rag.Fire was going like a beauty and a never ending job for the next couple of days to keep it going..

So now there is always a lighter or matches somewhere in the car.
