Hi guys, having just returned from Brisbane and having the oportunity to visit "Fishhead" it got me thinking, in different towns or cities what is your must visit tackle store?, i'm talking interstate and overseas, not online tackle stores but walk in stores and why is it on your must visit list, be it level of service, local information or variety of different toys to play with.
not meaning to offend any site sponsors just wanting to know what stores others recomend and why?
if offending to any site sponsors then moderators please delete, if not lets hear what stores you guys recomend is worth a visit.
Cheers Yewie

First off in the Brisbane
First off in the Brisbane metro area my pick is "Fishhead", the level of service is by far the best i have recieved in any taclke store on that side of the country.
In Perth i would recommend "Oceanside tackle and marine", again level of customer service and product information gets my vote
And lastly in Coffs Harbour it is "Fishing Tackle Australia" (mo tackle shop front), this place is on my must visit list for shear size!, customer service wasn't the best on my visit but gee they have some toys to play with.
Cheers Yewie

bass pro shops
Hey guys just got back from USA if your ever over that way go and visit a bass pro shop. What a shop they have rows and rows of fishing gear, guns, bows, boats, atvs, clothing and more. You could spend hours looking around in there. They have huge fish tanks and heaps of stuffed animals everywhere. Awesome shops.

Alaska Tackle and Game - Anchorage
A basement shop that takes up a whole block - EVERYTHING you could possibly need and more to camp. fish, shoot, smoke - could spend a day there and still not see everything all for a city smaller than Perth

For fly fishers
For fly fishers, Fly World in Bayswater/Maylands. It's a small shop but once the owner starts opening up draw after draw of quality fly's it will blow your mind, Great service too .

Bass Pro are great but the
Bass Pro are great but the vast majority of gear is fairly light freshwater stuff, certainly in the Midwest stores. In California they have a lot more saltwater gear.
Check out a Cabelas store, they are even better in my opinion

But can you
Get your bait from there, When all shops are shuting the doors here,
Will thay sell you bait
Or spool up your line for ypu
Will thay put more backing on for your spool to return you braid back tp the top of the spool
Will thay tell you whats biteing and were
And will thay build up rigs
And show you knots
And come in for a chat/ Cant do that over sea or on the net
I know thay you guys are going to by oversea, But think of your little shops that have close doors allready

I definately see your point
I definately see your point regarding the personal service that only the local shop can give its customers, but when I can get skirted lures for $30-40 in the US that are $100-110 locally, there is no option in my mind but to buy overseas. Black Barts, Mold Craft, Marlin Magic, Joe Yee, Polu Kai etc, all 1/3 to 1/4 of the price. Basically everything but Shimano is cheaper.

In my original post I did
In my original post I did say "walk in tackle store" not online, many people on here travel around the country and even around the world, can your local metro tackle store give you up to date information and reports for the other side of the country where you may be traveling?, I admit that I don't always buy my gear from my local tackle store, this is because they don't stock the gear that I want, I do buy gear online and actually spend a lot of money and this particular shop is a small business in the Perth metro area, am I doing the wrong thing by not supporting my "local" tackle store?, please let's not turn this into what I have seen on other threads where people are made to feel bad for not buying local, point of this thread was to know what tackle stores are worth visiting when visiting different places around the place.

fishheds actually organised
fishheds actually organised the custom rod build through ripplefisher Duncan is a ledgen but plat helped sort out the translation for me even though they didnt get the job through fisherman rods.
if you look at some of my picture posts my proposal is on the blank in japanese so just in case she said no, I would have a great rod with some jap writing on it that no-one knew what it said.
One of the girls from plat told her partner what one of her customers was doing and hey presto, she got married in june, our big day will be in august next year and the honey-moon is in exmouth for 4 weeks or more
