Awesome captures , just a question out of curiosity! Wouldnt it be more detrimentAl to the well being of the shark if it was caught on really light line due to the fight being longer then heavier line an therefore more stressful an tiring for whatever is hooked ?

the fight wont be any longer than using 40lb gear as we are running the same drag pressure of 8kg against them we are just putting the smaller gear under a lot more stress and a hell of a lot closer to its limit. instead of using the old star drags we are now using Avet's with lever drags so we can accuratly set the drag at exactly what we want while still being able to cast it a mile.
the 40lb gear we havent had a problem with any releases and have got sharks to 2.8m on the beach in under an hour.

Shovelly
Well done on the lighter gear but the shovelly wouldn't have been going back if it was me. The bigger ones are good chewing like wobbies.
