My rod is under tha tree

Hey I'm about to begin fishing in W.A waters mostly off of Quinns Rocks beaches up to Two Rocks.    My rod is awaiting me under tha xmas tree.    I have no idea about identifying different species of fish and I am looking for a user friendly W.A species book so that I can tell what is what and more importantly what I can eat.     I am going to head out boxing day morning hopefully aiming for Whiting to start with.    Any info will be much appreciated.

Catch ya on tha flip side

Peace

They have a lot of giood info that is free to download. Steve Correia brings out a good WA fishing book.
Mate you are in a good area to start your fishing adventures.
The trick for finding good sized tailor around the area is look for some reefy looking ground and to fish the south westers around dawn and dusk.
And there are heaps of whiting around there, though a lot of them are a small.

Yes, south wester are south westerly winds

This is the seabreeze that is the normal evening pattern in Perth at this time of the year. Ideally you want a south wester in the evening under 15 knotts.
Tailor are very edible.
You may catch a few fish that you wouldn't want to eat, but the majority should be what is called your bread and butter fish such as herring and whiting, which are good to eat.
