My Salmon Trip 2010
Hey All
Last weekend was the time for the annual salmon hunt down dunsbrough way!
Was a very successful weekend with schools the whole time we were there, even left a school sitting there on sunday when we left. We were so tired from running up and down the beach!
As soon as we hit the beach, 7am Saturday morning, there was a massive school sitting right on the beach. This resulted in multiple hook ups and first fish landed by 7:10. The first fish makes the weekend a success, and anything after this is a bonus.
Saturday lunchtime the rain came down so this gave us some time to fuel on on food and catch our breath!
Round 2 later in the afternoon once the rain disappeared resulted in more fish. Again as soon as we rocked up we spotted a school moving down the beach. Back into in and a few more fish landed.
Sunday saw us at the beach the same time again, 7am. Again another school, this time to the other side of the rocks. This school was the biggest I had seen here and they were close to the beach. Swell was up this day though so needed to have your casting shoulder warmed up and firing lures in the right direction. So many people on the beach so the school hit the bottom and was hard work getting them to strike, but it was possible. Cast behind them, let the lure sink to the ground then crank and twitch and put as much action into the lure as possible. As the swell was pumping metal lures was the only way to go.
We also landed 3 tailor for the weekend which was a first for us!
Pictures to follow!

Bastards (Lol)
Good onya, some great action there. I think we were fishing just south of you and didn't see a salmon in the few hours we were there.

WYADUP??
Definately....OR Mitchells where you were. (Just to help the non experienced folks out there as to where to start). As Colin said, We could see you lot running up the beach thinking I bet they are on a school!!
We didn't even see fish let alone catch Salmon. Best of luck to ya!!
I'll be heading down way early on Friday to Wyadup and giving it another crack.
Any one interested in coming??

Mitchells mate
Big swell though so big long casts needed.
Fisherboy - halco metal twistys mates, although others seemed to be doing better with raiders
hard to use swimming lures because of the distance and the fish been down after a few casts over them.

some of us more genetically
some of us more genetically gifted folk managed to get our swimming lures out far enough, on more than one occasion too, all it took was one crank of the handle and BOOM!! So much so mate, I had to borrow your gold number when one fish bit down on my clip when i was performing dental surgery to remove the trebles, unknowingly opening the clip just to see my smiling jack sail on the next cast.
