If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

How do you work those style of jigs, or do you leave it sitting in the rod holder?

how to work those jigs

Tue, 2010-04-20 13:05

Sufer,Iwas originally told that you just need put them in the rod holder to catch fish,i think thats a bit slack myself and have had no success with them sitting in the rod holder except for the odd bite.I try to keep it in the bottom 5 mtrs of the water column expecially for dhuies .i initially drop it all the way to the bottom, followed buy small lifts and winds with pauses in between once i have done this about 6 times i return it to the bottom and start again .quite often they will hit it on the pause, but my best opinion is to mix it up

topping it

Thu, 2010-04-22 20:04

Headin out on saturday with me best mate and his son jacko, its so funny we all went out last week and lately everyone else on the boat has been fishing with bait whilst i have been persisting with jigs and have had a few decent captures,The day after i caught my dhie on jig last week the first words out of jackos mouth when he woke were dad can we go and buy some jigs,so this weekend we are havin a jig only day i cant wait.Ithink persistance is the only way to have regular success,if you have bait on board you will be tempted to use it if you dont have imediate success on jigs so if you are keen to have success on jigs leave the bait at home and just find a way to make them work, mix it up with different styles and colours of jigs,
