Name five things on your fishing bucket list
Submitted by randall df223 on Wed, 2012-09-26 19:51
My five 'fishing bucket list' things are:
1. Dhufish (keeper) on jig or plastic (hopefully won't wait too long to cross that off)
2. Cobia
3. Bag limit of squid (never got close to bagging out!)
4. Dollie at the FADS
5. My first real fishing trip with my (now) 17 yr old son and (now) 8 yr old son to Steep Point. An all boys week of remote camping and fishing. The 17 yr old is ready to go now. Just waiting for the young'un to develop his fishing passion!

the first and second are both
the first and second are both pretty close and with close family ties, you can always disguise the real reason for the visit! "Honey, we should vist your homeland sometime! I'd like to see it"...

Mine isnt so much about
Mine isnt so much about getting particular fish or size of fish, more about wanting to fish certain destinations, for whatever may be there.
1. Fishing the N.T for a +120cm Barra
2. Fish for Salmon in Alaska
3. Fish the Coral Sea(if it isnt completely locked up soon!)
4. Fish for Giant Taiman in Mongolia
5. Fish the Amazon, for anything that can be caught :)
Will be hitting the NT again for the runoff next year for Barra, and also doing S.America, so might be able to cross two of them off my list :)

Ohhhh Yeah there is. The Giant Taiman from Mongolia are widley regarded as the biggest of the Trout/Salmon species. Though reports are lake Trout in N.America get just as big too. Though you get these Mongolian Taiman in shallow Trout looking stream and rivers. Not in big ass lakes like the Lake Trout in N.America.

My list ......
1 - need to camp on beach near Tandabidy with a tinny, rods, scotch. Must be two weeks, but think I would like four weeks.
2 - sail of any size
3 - a big GT
4 - a Dhuie bigger than 10kg, have seen a 25kg one landed but need my own.
5 - be there to see my son catch his first marlin
Ive had a good life so far and enjoyed fishing through it. If I get items on the list completed I know I will add other items to the list, that's the beauty of fishing for me.

Not being cocky or boastful
But have ticked off many many of those above but at 62 and having been an avid fisherman since I was 5 by now I should have ticked most off or I never will. Have been fortunate that the job I fell into has taken me around the world and paid me well enough to actually cross most of my wish list off - and I still enjoy it after 40+ years
I still want to catch a dolphinfish - never even hooked one despite fishing tropical waters all over the world
Go back to Alaska for a second time to catch and release a King (next year I hope)
Catch a large grayling on fly in the sub-arctic
ABOVE ALL - keep the good health that I currently enjoy
Good thread and really thought provoking - I sincerely hope that all of the posters get to tick off most of their lists
