Navionics question.

What is better. Gold or platinum.  I actually can't work it out by reading their website. Both description pretty muc say that they're the best.

I want to see depth contours, wrecks, reefs, fishing spots (if possible), and everything else you need to get around safely.

Cheers all.

to give you a 3d effect of the bottom contours and also has a google earth overlay option but only really good in a 7 inch screen or larger unit if you have a 5 inch go the gold

Gold adequate

I have found the gold to be adequate. It gives you all the beacons, buoys and depth lines necessary for safe boating. Anything else would be a waste.

There was some navionics

There was some navionics "premium" version that supposedly had all these extra features (like info about the harbours, docks, pictures, upgraded in some areas, etc) but was apparently useless for WA as there was practically none of that extra content here. Not sure if that was the platinum charts?

as stike zone said platinum gives you 3d  bottom lay out and a couple of othe features. However they are about double the price....
