Need an expert

Hi guys. I have a dragonfly 5 pro and I am still trying to figure out what I am seeing. I have no problems picking up hard ground in shallow water ( under 25m) but as I get out to 30 plus I'm not sure what I am seeing. The pic I have posted I'm doing about 6kn with 43% gain. Is this hard bottom? Any help would be awesome as I am getting frustrated. Cheers

no expert
But It looks like it has some sand/grass cover
I'ld be looking more for color similar to the "blue/white clouds " just up of the bottom ,bottom right of l/h screen but red/yellow , not familiar with the dragonfly if like the simrad sidescan would be a denser/darker white if not the red/yellow if that makes sense

i'm going opposite
I'm thinking limestone ground. There is tails present and a thick bottom, I would like to know the picture speed and also frequency, should be 200hz at that depth. Colour pallette aswell can change appearance. I sometimes use black and white on my sounder as the more solid an echo the blacker it is on the screen.
I am NO expert either and still learning so take my info lightly.

I would also say a hard
I would also say a hard bottom, black background is usually used at night, to stop excess light in the wheelhouse, with lighter colours used during the day. Try a lighter background and you will see a bit more definition to those showings above some of that ground.
I do not know the unit or system but I would also guess at a bit too much gain or sensitivity as well.
Best tip is to just keep playing with it until you get familiar with its workings and what it does.
