New 2.5hp Motor

Looking for a new lightweight motor for running around the bays @ Rottnest and to maybe take on other trips. I have a 2.4m inflatable floor Quicksilver to use it with. I'm not looking for anything more than walking speed performance and light weight convenience.

Any recommendations?

I am leaning towards the Honda 2.3hp @ $1240 but i understand people have a love/hate/love to hate relationship with them! Simple, reliable, but noisy...

I have a 3.3hp Mercury (2 stroke) on a Zodiac 2.6m. Great little motor that is light & reasonably cheap to purchase. Ours hasnt missed a beat & its easy for kids to operate.

I'd go the Honda. Air cooled so no water pump or flushing etc. Give it a squirt after a rotto wkend and hang it up in the shed. Mines on a 2.5m zodiac

Should be able to get lsss than $1240 though??

 I've had the Honda 2hp

I've had the Honda 2hp previously but sold it soon after, the downside I found is they are super noisy, if this doesn't bother you then it's not a drama. I now have an Evinrude 3.5 4 stoke and it's good for around the bays at Rottnest. There is plenty of small outboards on marketplace just saw a 3.3 Mercury for $400 I would be going down that path

I steered clear of the air-cooled ones because of the noise and the fact that they don't have reverse. I had one like that before and I found it annoying. I ended up picking up late model a 5hp Yamaha 2 stroke with about 10 hours on it from a member here.
