New Boat Ramp Leeman

Hi all,

Looks like the new boat ramp is reading to go, when the opening ceremony is I don't know.  Will upload photos soon.  Looks a bit steep, especially reversing down to launch boat but time will tell.

Thanks for the update Roberta...was wondering how it was coming along.

It's good news...more boats on the water means less people hitting up my LB spots :-p Due back up there soon. :-)

I'm ok, hope you all pop into the Trash to Treasure on a Sunday I do some volunteer work their, Ruddock and Indian Ocean Drive (behind Frans kitchen) or give me a PM when you are up and I'll give you my address to pop in for a coffee, sorry nothing cold in the fridge anymore hahahaha.

Some locals are worried that the new ramp will mean bigger boats coming up, I say stiff titties the more the merry a, good for the town and businesses.

Don't forget don't fill up in Jurien if you need fuel, Liberty and the PO are 10 to 12cents cheaper than Jurien two service stations.  The word has got out and both flat out with people fueling up.  PO has had their tank cleaned out  (new owners) due to not having fuel for 12months but all good now.  Semi permanants in CP used to bring their fuel up for their boats if staying a couple of weeks, now they don't bother, apparently cheaper than Perth.

Hope to meet you guys when up next, beaches are cleaning up from weed,  town and sea rescue ramps nice and clean from weed.

in town are ok both concrete pads. The new ramp is concrete, don't know if one is going to be launching and the other retrieving yet, no signs or markings.

Just been looking at the lead line out of leeman on

Wed, 2014-11-19 16:12

navionics chart. Im interested in going out of there this summer  but from what i can make out it looks like you have to go through some shallow ?hairy looking area's there before the safe stuff just wondering if you can give advice on what swell you think maximum to attempt it  ?is less than 2 metres safe? or any other safety advice you can offer to boaters that have never been out of there before cheers

I've just put some

Wed, 2014-11-19 19:08

photos up of the new ramp  beeroclock, as you can see by the surge, the  southerly was only slight. Best thing to do when you come up is to go to Sea Rescue and they can give you the heads up on what is the safest winds for boating.  Their is a green marker to get out, we used to use the south passage but only on high tide, which is if you are facing the crayfishermans jetty to the left, it goes between two reef systems.  Don't know if the marker is their or will be put out for the south passage.

Leeman is a community of locals

Fishwrecked is also a community of a different sort and people help each other out with info.

Im guessing you come on here for info and not only dont want to give any in return but also dont want anyone else to?

Sea-ronic for a local that

Thu, 2014-11-20 21:28

has fished these waters for 17yrs with my late husband (fished for 35yrs). One thing I found out, its up to the skipper of the boat whether he/she wishes to go out in a howling southerly or calm seas for fishings. Its the duty of the skipper to deem whether its going to be a safe trip out fishing.  Sea rescue has the up todate weather reports/charts of reefs for the novice skipper or very experienced skipper and crew.  The skippers judgement is the most important for the crew, not mine or yours.
