Save up

Save up and get the Stradic, great reel and if you look after it, it will be good for ten + years.

I have the 1000 and use it on a small 1 to 3 kg rod for the cannoe. I also have the 2500 + 4000 Rarenium. They are also good but cost a bit more.

Maybe look at the 2500 size for what you are fishing for, you will find it has more uses and can be used on a few different rods depending on what you are fishing for. The 2500 size is my primary reel for Bream, whiting, flathead, trout and lots more. The 1000 size is for real finness work like flicking tiny lures and plastics.

The one thing i always do, is take the rod you want it for into the shop and try the reels on the rod. I have wanted a certain reel but when i put it on the rod it didnt feel good and made the rod unballanced.

I actually bought the Fj 1000 instead of the Rarenium 1000 because it was a few grams heavier and ballanced the rod out perfect.

There are other reels in your price range that will probally do the job for you.Other members might have some recomendations , but always try before you buy if possible otherwise you might regret your choice .

Cheers Grant  .

Go for a 2004 daiwa reel, a much more versatile reel. Had a twinpower 1000fc before, found it too slow to cast and retrieve small slices when the tailor in the swan is firing. I'm currently using a twinpower 2000( bought overseas) which is great for both breaming and also spinning for tailor in the swan river.

these reels are all you really need for bream Kingfisha. More expensive reels are nice to use but wont catch more fish. in saying that the stradic will last a lot longer and can be picked up for under $200 in sales. Good luck

If you are specifically targeting bream get the 1000 and put light braid on. It's just bream you don't need the expensive stuff but one other thing- 1000 size reels can freak out a bit when laying line. The small spool makes things go spastic especially when u try to load heavyish line on.

2500/3000 reals are ten times more versatile but are a bit overkill for just bream
