If you google "katipo" and
If you google "katipo" and go to images... Image 2,3 & 4 with the yellow rope and weights are my photos, reasons for the photos? I sold it, I don't catch any Crays (first season doing it could have been a contributing factor haha) but did manage 2 ockys and a crab. Pretty much had to hold the thing together with cable ties. But that could have just been me. I'm just going to spend the $$ and get 3/4 timber pots this year

Katipo
Like any plastic cray pot they need a lot of weight or they will move too much= no crays.
I have 2 and only use them on trips away and have caught plenty of crays. If you want to leave them in for long periods use some wire on the bait doors

Ok Thanks Guys, Doesn't sound to promising..
I brought 2 secondhand ones Yesterday with ropes and weights..
I have made a few mods to one already, like putting a lot bigger bait basket in one side..
But mainly thought they would be a lot better for the Abrolhos trips, lot easier to handle and stack??
So we will wait and see if they are any good..

yes the handling of them is quite good
I just had something with teeth possibly a wobby or seal opening my bait doors around rotto, a bit of wire and no problem

We did well
I tried them out after buying some off the lads at Oceanside. Ryan gave me the tip of roughing up the outside surface of the pot to make it easier for growth and crays to walk on. For a small pot we caught a heap of crays last season. I put a fish plate in as ballast.
Cheers

Hey boys, We sold countless
Hey boys,
We sold countless katipo setups last year and the feedback was very positive. Heaps of customers came back in with photos and stories of epic cray captures. One thing I would recommend is making sure you have enough weight in the pot to keep it from moving, a moving pot will catch 0 crays. Also if you are going to be fishing deeper water, make sure the bait basket lids are fastened down with a cable tie or some elastic cord. Apart from that they have been fishing very well!
Cheers Josh
