New Caledonia - The Chesterfields....trip of a lifetime
Looking for expressions of interest
I'm looking to put together a small group of guys for a trip of a lifetime to the Chesterfields reefs off New Caledonia in July/August 2012.
The Chesterfields - A New Caledonian territory, around 600km west of the northern tip of New Caledonia, sit right in the piscatorial passage joining Australia’s Great Barrier Reef with the South Pacific islands. The Chesterfield Islands are an uninhabited group of atolls, coral reefs and underwater sea mounts home to some of the most extreme surface popping and vertical jigging on the planet.
The few anglers that have ventured to this isolated fishery have returned with reports of huge schools of yellowfin tuna, XOS GTs and dogtooth tuna they just couldn’t stop. Dogtooth tuna over 90kg that have never come across a lure (let alone any jigs), and hordes of aggressive GTs that have never seen a popper or stickbait!
This is planned as a 14 day expedition starting from Noumea to The Chesterfields and back to Noumea, which gives us around 9 or 10 days at the Chesterfields, exploring all options but targeting the Giant Doggies and GT'S that live there, along with some trolling for Marlin, Yellowfin and Mahimah, etc....
I'm looking for a group of 5 anglers(myself included)...so that leaves 4 spots.
The boat is a beautiful 55ft Salthouse sportfisher that has jig, popping and game gear onboard on a lose it pay for replacement basis, but we are more than welcome to bring our own specialist gear.
There will be two skippers on board at all times who have previously chartered this boat to The Chesterfileds. They are very experienced and highly regarded.
Departure is from Noumea and return to Noumea.
Let me know if you might be interested.......you only live once!!!!
Please send me a PM for more info and costs
