New Camcorder
Submitted by bouttime on Thu, 2008-02-28 19:06
Getting a new camcorder for Exmouth and have narrowed it down to a JVC GZ-MG345
40gb hard drive, good lense quality, compact design.
Have had a look around and this 1 seems to be good value for money at $799.
Any thoughts on other camcorders that are in that price range.
I have never owned a camcorder so dont want to spend to much money.
Thanks

i have a pjvc mg77a. i reckon it is awesome. i have taken it skiing and taken footage of people biscuiting and i reckon it it is awesome. i have had it since xmas 06 and nothing has happened to it, and no skipping. jusy bloody hard to keep it still and film people on a biscuit doing 30 knots on my boat.

G'day Bouttime I've just
G'day Bouttime
I've just upgraded to a Canon Hi Def camera (this week) so have a great Sony Digital Vid camera laying idle - DCRHC15.

It is only 2 years old and without a scratch. Great little camera.
As said earlier miniDV tape is still the best IMO. My brand new HV20 is miniDV tape for HD.
Hard disk drives stuff up and YOU can not fix it.
If you do an extended trip you will have to carry an external source (laptop) to down load to as opposed to just put a new tape in.
Tape is a great back up too. Download off tape to home computer, burn to DVD and put original tape away as a backup.
Contact me if interested.
Cheers Pete
