New guy with no luck

 Hi all!

Great site and very helpfull comments.  I'm new to fishing and have just picked up a 6mtr Haines hunter.  I have fished d9, parmelia bank and around garden island and cannot catch a decent fish if I tried.  I am berlying up hard and all I get is butterfish, trumpeters and the odd whiting herring.  I want a bag of herring or whiting maybe even some skippy!

Can anyone help me out please?  Any comments appreciated?

Sounds like a nice boat. Mate I'd be offering up a deckies spot and maybe the right person will come along. Lots of people on this site know how to read a sounder, have a few spots and would love the opportunity to get out on a boat.

What is the minimum size boat you would recommend to go to rotto with? Mine is a cuddy cabin 4.85m fiberglass.

Denz there are some lumps out

Denz there are some lumps out on the five that do hold good fish the secret is persistance fresh bait, keep a steady burley trail or as soupster suggested get a few deckies from the site there are no shortage of those who will guide you to a few area's they have fished and show you a thing or two on your sounder,or may take you out deeper on a good day to get your confidance up and then the sky is the limit. What sort of rigs are you using when you are fishing as this also plays a huge difference with bait presentation as well
