Picked up my new jig outfit from Campbells:
Uglystick 15kg bluewater 5'6" rod
Shimano Stradic FJ 5000 reel
300m PE3 jigging braid (petek?)
Thanks Leemo for spooling it. Will send in a photo of of my first fish, hopefully a big fat demersal!

talking from the point of absolutely no experience! Western angler recently ran a three part series of articles.
i'll try to duplicate it here:
dhu fish
mccarthy bullhead minnow olive / pearl or azure/pink (they were suggestions from compleat angler in nedlands actually), orange or pearl
mccarthy baby elf paddletails
squidgies shad in white lightening
squidgies wriggler glow
baldchin
gulp peeler crabs
squidgies wriggler glow
if i catch i fish on any of these, i'll let you know!

I got one today too, ordered it on ebay yesterday morning and it was waiting for me when I got home today. But I get to use it cos I bought it myself (against the wishes of the better half).
I only got a cheap setup to start with:
Saratoga Tournament Jig Rod 6'0" 15-24kg - $90
Saratoga Predator 8000 Reel - $80
500m 50lb PEX Spectra Mulit Colour Braid $35
They claim to have comparable quality to the big name brands so I guess I'll find out on sunday with saltwater charters. Fingers crossed the braid arrives by friday though.
Can anyone suggest some good jigs for demersals and where to get them? I've already got a heap for sambos/aj's but nothing for demersals other than a couple of 150g Ocktas.
Cheers Eamon
