Hi Everyone,
looking to purchase a nice new low profile baitcaster to use for squidding, herring, whiting, skippy ect.
The main one i am looking at this stage is the Daiwa Saltist Hard Rock Fish type II
just wondering if anyone on here has one of these as yet?
either that or if any of you can recommend a better option? i do love my Daiwa reels but am open to other suggestions
price range is about $250 - $300
only wanting to run about 10lb braid
cheers

Preferably both
Got the trusty old Calcutta and some cheap shimano bantam crest fire reels from years ago.
Just looking for something more smooth and with minimal backlash / clicker star drag ect.
Something a bit more modern really.
Considered the qantam smoke reels as well

My only other thought
Is the daiwa heartland hlxa.
From what I can find they are almost the same features as one another just different colour schemes really.
Does that seem about right to you guys?

G'day Scano, I've owned both
G'day Scano, I've owned both the HRF and the Heartland and the Heartland is a much nicer reel, no slack in the driveline, more refined feel, both could do with a carbon drag upgrade to get rid of that drag shudder you get from them when the line comes off slowly, Zillion Type R ($440 on ebay) would be my choice or standard Zillion ($300) on a say a raider rod with enough cash left for braid.

?
Cheers anyway Simmo but I reckon the zillion is a bit out of the price range.
The mrs has said about $600 limit on the whole combo and by the time I get braid and a rod to suit I will already close to that ammount.
I suppose the fact that she has bought me a few top end reels over the last few years makes that ok then.
