New old rig

After years of looking for a boat and not being able to afford any I've finally come across a good deal and I had to make it mine. Completely opposite to what I was looking for but it'll get me and the family out there safely and comfortably. Got a 200 merc black anchor with 160hrs, brought from the original owner.  Not a bad upgrade from the ski. Few things to tidy/fix up on her but nothing too serious. Catch you all on the water, I'll be sure to ask the fishwrecked brains trust plenty of questions.

Cheers fellas, uncovered a few of the tell-tale old fibreglass nasties today which made my bargain not so much of a bargain, so fun times ahead. Hopefully still be able to drop the pots next week tho

Anything can be fixed

If you've got a sense of humour and can use a pair of scissors and a paintbrush you can fix anything fibreglass.

I think I will be going to town with the composite board, for floor's and seat boxes if anyone can recommend a composite board supplier. Also if anyone knows or is interested in altering the bar work for me let me know. I want to drop the hard top 100mm and move it back 2-300mm with angle front lower so I can add clears and adding a rocket launcher.

Nice one Rob looks the goods, ha I've a 79 Gaudian that's clapped out been flooded and still going strong. Thought my floor would have folded in by now but besides a bit of give its still holds up well.

Wouldn't be rushing to replace unless absolutely required, as long as its sealed and no longer getting water in it should hold up.

 I've just finished pulling

Sun, 2022-11-27 19:16

I've just finished pulling the floor up, it baffles me how people think. Once I pulled the Ali checker plate up I was left with fibreglass coated leaf litter. Floor was 12mm standard ply unsealed on the bottom with untreated timber floor joists and an unsealed fuel tank access hatch. So you can only imagine the mouldy mushy mess I've been elbows deep in the past few days. A positive is that they run fibreglass stringers not timber so its just a matter of slapping in a few new floor joists and floor. My only saving grace is I was able to con the Mrs into believing it was still a good  buy. Will unfortunately miss the Cray run again but hopefully have a good rig for late summer. I'm taking pics and will have a post done once I've finished

Arr shit...yep sounds like a patched up mess and needed to be replaced.

I was lucky my stringers were fully glassed also as well as the top of floor, so beside a few entre points from the top which I cut out and replaced I cam out lucky.

OK so I've added a few pics

Sat, 2022-12-31 11:17

OK so I've added a few pics of my nightmare and the current state of the boat, managed to finally get some time away from the kids to start tackling it. My bargain is now a project and there is a long itchy road ahead of me. It's a great learning curve tho, I love cranking the noise and getting stuck in. I'm hoping to start cutting the composite floor in on Monday and glassing by the end of the week.
