New Reels

Looking at getting a shimano niva or spheros reel in the 6000 size. To match with a 10kg 6ft shimano backbone elite rod. Has anyone got experience with these reels or can recommend anything. Or something similar for this rod. Looking to spend no more than $200. Then after new year buy new rod for the 6000 cos the shimano might be just a tad small.

Cheers
Lukas

I think you meant Navi as oppose to Niva?? This reel is not available in Aus as its a SE Asian and Japan model only. The Spheros would be ideal for the rod, yes it is a bit small but you can boost up the capacity by using braid.
Have you looked at any other brands or models of reels?? For upto $200 there are plenty of options out there. We stock a huge range of reels so drop by and have a look.

Looking at getting a banax from oceanside. Honsu and blakey gave us a bit of advice. Supposed to be pretty god ay?
There was another one that they had for $289 but can't remember what it was if either of you read this can you tell me what it was cos I might be leaning towards that one now instead of the Banax.

I must agree with Feral on the Banax GT reels, I still much rather the older SX series and the current Si series, alot more robust. Busso Fisho was looking at the new Si deluxe reels which itself are tough reels. He ended up with a brand new Okuma V-System 65 which I rate highly becoz of strong internals and all aluminium alloy construction, dual drag system and a unique folding handle system.

Yeah that folding handle is pretty tricky. Wouldn't have ever known about it if it hadn't been folded up and put away.
The gt that blakey showed me was crap...
Liking the okuma so far. took it for a bash down the beach. Pretty smooth. Just need to catch something bigger than a whiting.
Feral I'll be coming in today to spend some money on tackle and sh*t for the trip down south later this week.
Cheers honsu and blakey for the help. Didn't have much of a clue what to look for when I walked in and the help was awesome.
