Hmm... PE3 perhaps, for a 4000 size stella? Pinkies, Dhuies, maybe if you can cast it, slices for salmon, queenies and barra up north..

Just my opinion, pe5 Jigwrex when they are eventually released in the Australian market may not quite match a 4000 size stella. Just thoughts =)

A PE3 Shimano Jigwrex is available for a 'test-drive' aboard the NS2 if you perhaps sweeten Al up with some black cans...? =)

Ooo.. Mav, spoke to Howard today, he has offered me to try and break his custom rod that he built up, that he says is on NS2. He says it will take aaaanything =)

BUT

Tue, 2006-07-25 12:53

well if he only offers it to you he knows it wont get broken with those little girlie arms you got .

Al has his little 4500 blast on the PE5 and works a treat how much smaller is the 4000 Stella to the Blast.

Howard has a mean little AVET as well all tricked up running 50 or 80 braid on it .

H makes some nice rods for an amature rod builder tho , I am nearly finished building my custom bench in my workshop , going to mount a rotissorie on it to build and repair my own rods and anyone else's if they want to use it , getting a wood lathe in there as well to make some of my own poppers as well, and sourcing moulds to make some jigs as well.

Bench is 2.8 m long and 1.6 m wide , 50mm thick wood top and stands 1.1 m off the ground , steel frame ( heavy walled patio tube) and Wandoo top ( one mean and H E A V Y D U T Y bench).

don't make fun of my girly arms =(

I think a 4500 Blast is closer in size to the 6000/8000 size Stellas (same body, diff spool), and the 4000 Stella is...hmm well smaller.

Resembles more like a slightly oversized bream reel.

Bluewater or Campbells

Tue, 2006-07-25 19:08

You have Bluewater Scabs , Campbells in Leederville and Ranger camping Ossie park on the way to Ocean side call in and see them all before buying , some stores only stock certain brands and will try to sell them to you , get an Idea on whats out there first .

What line class are you looking at running .I would guess 20 lb braid .

Gloomis do a Bucara rod 7 foot 2 inch 6/10kg or 6/12 and 7/12 for $350 mark

the Gloomis pro Blue water series are around $350 as well and are an AWESOME rod .

You could buy 3 or 4 Crystal blues for $400 HA HA

Struddies Blue water 7 foot 6 , 6-8 kilo spin is only $149

Pfluger Rods - 7625S 7 foot 6 , 8 kilo rod $119

They also do a graphite rod and all models are $99

And then there is Azagaie Rods , 7 foot spin 6 kilo rated $60 BARGAIN , I have heard good things about these rods ,

Live fibres , well are all good rods then you have Texalium rods which are another step up

Go to all the shops you can BEFORE you buy anything , and BARTER / HAGGLE for a good deal , winter is slow time so you may get a good deal this time of the year.

I would seriously wait and see a jigwrex before spending on a non custom rod , I like them that much , Al jigs with a PE8 rod and it can tollerate his antics .

MAV.

PS Ryan is in EXXY I think so it will be Gribbo , Lee and Honsu doing the deals .

Come down...

Tue, 2006-07-25 20:30

ya ryan is in Exmouth for a coupla weeks takin a well needed break from the shop, come down and see us dasho. We are definately lookin at beefin up our jigging range for the coming sambo season, got a couple of really nice custom jobbies comin in rated anywhere from 30-80lb which are yet to have a fixed name (even got honsu excited, gotta b good), but one in particular looks really awsome (i already have my order in). Apart from that after the tackle show in august we should have a really good range of brute stix, as well as all other jigging and game fishin gear.
Did i mension we are open 7 days a week!! : )
