New sounder setup

Hi all,

I've recently upgraded my sounder to a Lowrance elite TI 7, it's the first time I've changed sounder since buying the boat. I'm just wondering if I need to put the boat in the water before I turn it on and set it up? Or can i set it up and load maps etc onto it now? Ive always been told not to use the sounder if I'm not in the water as it heats up, but I don't wanna have to launch the boat then spend an hour playing around with it first.

Cheers

Cool thanks guys, I'll unplug the transducer and load the maps, get what I can set-up. Yeah I'm gonna take it out Monday if the weather permits and have a proper play with it.

You can turn the transducer off in the sounder menu if you want to have a play at home.

Lowrance web site

Many years ago the lowrance web site had a simulator of their current sounders and you could down load them to your computer and play with the setting re: colour and such them go to your boat and just make the changes you require without sitting in the boat for a bit of time while you sorted things out.
