New to WA

 Hey guys

Recently I have moved from the east coast to the west coast, and its pretty hard going from knowing lots of great spots gained over years of trying to absolutely nothing.

Not trying to get secret spots from anyone, more trying to find areas to avoid in the perth region ( I have heard that fishing around Perth can be a bit of a dud). Any advice is appreciated on this, also I have to find a new tackle store, I am living in Wembley downs and something close would be lovely but dont mind travelling.

On top of this if anyone is keen to go for a flick let me know, I use lures 98% of the time and really only use bait in the surf, I love estuary fishing and am mostly a landbased fisherman although I do have a Yak.

Thanks guys

Biff

Hi Biff. I know wembley is a fair way from the canning but flicking darker black and redish lures or some plastics like the zman grubz in the bloodworm colour is great around the Rossmoyne foreshore. I think a yak is great drifting from the spit which you will notice on Google earth, down to the shelley bridge. Just casting towards the shore for bream and lots of Western Australia's bar tail flathead which are good eating

Hey mate, welcome to the forum.

Two decent tackle stores that I use in the area are Hillary's boat and tackle (can be pricey at times) and Bluewater Tackleworld Scarborough.

As a start hit up some of the beaches around the Floreat/Scarborough/Trigg area or the marinas at Hillarys/Ocean Reef, these spots are hit and miss but can often turn up productive sessions, especially on light tackle with herring, pike/snook, tailor, bream, and whiting along with a few other species.

At the spots mentioned above bring a heavier outfit on a longer rod and chuck out a livie if you get one on the lighter gear, has produced numerous rays and small sharks for me and you never know your luck.

If you are willing to travel there are decent spots as mentioned above in the river and also around the Fremantle area.

Good luck mate and if you have any more questions about the area feel free to PM me or some of the other members, always happy to help.

Hutch

Welcome here and to the West

And the best advise I can give is "just ask". This site has some very nice fisho's just willing to help novice's and new to WA fisho's.

I can give advise on the Mandurah and Karratha/Exxy area, but obviously miles away from you.

Just pm if you head down this way or up north (much better Exxy and Karratha fishers on here though!!!!)

G'day Biff,

We have few things in common.

I came from the East and I use only lures to fish. I don't have a boat so have to make do with landbased fishing.

However, I live SOR so if you keen to travel to fish, drop me a PM

Cheers
