new years day
went to lano for the week between christmas and new year, great week but the wind did not let up, so sunday new years day with wind forecast to drop off we headed out early, checked pots for only 3 size crays on way out then went out about 25 - 30 kms out and started fishing first up a nice baldy then a 68cm dhuie which was returned the next 3/4 of an hour just got better. We had five people on board and came home with 2 dhuies one 14.5kg the other about 8kg released another 3 around the 6-7kg mark, 7 baldies 1 breaksea and a small shark. Was a good day for only about 1 hours fishing.... then the boat motor died about 10-12kms out, did all usual checks still wouldnt start and couldnt find anything wrong, so called up sea seach who came out and towed us back, fantastic guys couldnt speak highly enough of them, so that ended any chance of more fishing trips. Took boat back to dealer on tues morning was all fixed by wed morning...hopefully, needed oil line bled and code reset. So what started out as very ordinary fishing weather ended up really good, cant wipe the smile off the sons girlfriend who caught the big dhuie.
