Hi All

My name is Rich and i am new to this awesome site, great stories, great info and pics. Also i would like to thank Adam for sorting my logon out "cheers cobba".

Live in the southwest, love my fishing when i can get out, no pro like some of you guys and gals.My biggest fish to date is a 21.5kg Dhu off Myalup in 15m of water. Heading to Hamlin Bay for Easter cant wait. Heading to Shark Bay at the end of May not sure what the fishing is like up there. I am also in the process of upgrading the boat to a something slightly bigger to get offshore.

That sounds like you have a fair idea on what the fish bite on ,and some reasonable spots in the s/west. Keep posting those comments and pics of your successfull trips . Us fishos get off on photos and other peoples success. Keeps us trying to catch more fish than our mates.

Cheers

Thanks Cocokye and Andy

Im a bit of a green horn, although learning fast and how addictive it is, especially at the tackle shop $$$$. The Dhue was my second and the first was undersize so im calling it arse and it was on my brothers Gt220 combo so i think it might be a long time between drinks.

I agree with we need more from the S/West

I am from Bunbury and have dived the shallow reefs for about the last 20 yrs chasing crays, Only just getting back into the fishing as had to rely on mates to invite me out into the vast depths to catch a fish .I purchased a new boat 18mths ago and have just been trying to find a fish and new reef out deep. I work shift work so i mainly fish during the week and avoid all the crowds at the ramp.

Had a good day out on Tues with a couple of small dhuies (6 and 8 kg) but travelled a lot of km  for them , could have brought the buggers from the shop for the amount of fuel and bait  i used .  I am not complaining it was peaceful out there drifting in the sun.

She goes to work i go fishing , fair deal i reckon

welcome aboard , if your

welcome aboard , if your heading to shark bay, firstly , how much fuel can you carry and what size boat and motor

if you can carry enough fuel head out to turtle bay (near end of island), fishing in 20 to 30mtrs water the species are endless, just look for the shoals on the gps and drift

get yourself a chart to study first, you must get a permit to take more than 1 pinky outside the exclusion zone or 1 inside , all the info you will need is on the net

take note turtle bay is 36nm from denham boat ramp, we were using 130 to 140 lirs on a 80 nm round trip with a 350chev but 2stroke mtrs will use more

We only have a 435 hornet which i have heard is not worth taking up there, cos the better fishing grounds are miles, but we are hopefully upgrading to a boat around 18ft+ before we go up. My Bro has some charts so we will start planning and studying them, bit optimistic but hey it wont hurt.

Thanks heaps for the info

if you dont take a boat and

Fri, 2009-03-13 21:38

if you dont take a boat and want to go fishing try Unreal Charters , great people and the skipper (Heath) will do everything to put you on the fish

we have done the trip out with him twice and never missed and all reports i have heard are all great, there is an article in the l;atest fishing wa mag

if you do take even a small boat there is still plenty of fishing to be done a lot closer in
