I got mine from Midway
I got mine from Midway Marine in Rocko.
They have new ones, but if you are lucky they might have a new one which has been removed from a new boat to install hydraulic steering and you can pick one of those up for a few dollars cheaper ....either way they are only a couple of hundred and if you already have the teleflex type cable steering are a sinch to fit.
Just unbold the old box and install the new with absolutely no modifications what so ever.
Like Ranmar said the only downside is you can't push the motor from lock to lock from the ground at the motor itself which when working on it is a bit of a pain but the positives far outweigh that small inconvenience.
Shop around and you will get one cheap enough and you will be glad you did.

Fitted one myself a while back
Very straighforward, uses same cable. It gives you, as the name implies, no feedback forces from the motor itself, meaning you can let go of the wheel and it will just keep running straight, or whatever degree of turn you have on the wheel at the time. You can let go at speed and it will just keep going where you have pointed it. You also don't get the "knocking" you would other wise get at low speed. It is slightly firmer in operation than the standard helm, but actually feels very much like hydraulic steering in that respect, but much cheaper to buy. I would certainly recommend it up to the engine sizes where you actually need hydraulic steeering to reduce effort.
Downsides? Only one I have found is that you cannot push the motor from lock to lock when you are standing on the ground at the back, but i can live with that.
