NFR - closest to pin, vehicle service
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Wed, 2022-03-09 19:11
Got a Karratha quote to fix and service my 05 prado with a few 4wd wear and tears. Anyone hazard to guess the price or tell me what they'd think Perth would cost vs Ktown? Closest to pin wins my other kidney.

Id hate to guess what that would cost anywhere at present
Im starting the bidding at 4.2 k but something thinks it may be more,
mates old man had an older 200 series engine issue turn into 35-40 k, once you start how far do you go, heads, turbos, injectors radiator, starter motor,
whilst out freshen up the transmission, big $$$$.

No idea on the cost of rack and pinions or disk rotors but would guess around $4.3 thousand

Hardest part is finding
Hardest part is finding somewhere decent to do the work at the moment. The usual spot has gone down hill now the owner has opened up another shop in Perth and not supervising the Karratha branch as closely.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Would help to add if it was a Toyota quote or elsewhere
All easy work, that you could knock over in a weekend.
Going on 100 series parts not Prado from doing my own;
Rotors and pads-$300
Tie rod ends $200?
Steering rack-genuine Hilux $1800, similar
Mounts-genuine can be pretty dear but def are better than after market-$500+
To get genuine prices jump on Newtown Toyota website

I love how they get to
I love how they get to charge for workshop consumables. Pay top dollar with mark up on everything plus a inflated wshop hourly rate and you still get charged for the rags to wipe their hands.

Steering rack is the price
Steering rack is the price listed at Newtown Toyota, generally the cheapest genuine in WA.
Can easily get aftermarket but they usually arent as reliable

Same
I thought the same when I did a google search of the rack and they were $800ish, but then saw genuine Toyota price. Then went and checked the rack and can see its definitely time to replace. Figure 2k for that and $500 for labour and the rest seems like a reasonable price, although still hurts my feelings..
