Anti Foul Removal
Submitted by Browndog on Wed, 2022-03-02 12:21
Hi FW Crew, does anybody have suggestions for who I can get to remove old anti foul from my 25' Powercat?
Boat is on a trailer so can tow NOR or SOR as needed. Will be going into a Hillarys pen with a Sea Pen so antifoul not needed. Intent is to remove and take it back to gelcoat and polish. Have tried a few places but nobody seems to do or have experience at comlete removal.
Cheers,
BD.

Folks used to use Gunwash
Folks used to use Gunwash annually to clean a 60 foot boat. Took it back to bog.
A shit of a job without a doubt.

Lots of scraping and sanding
Lots of scraping and sanding will do it. Time and elbow work. If not sure if you want to do the job without knowing how to do it try Google. Always helpfully videos to watch on any topic

Contractor
Thanks guys, I know 100% that I don't want to do this job, was hoping to find a contractor to do it. I spoke to the boat lifter at Hillarys who said they can blast it, but not polish etc. Ideally looking for someone to do the whole job.

Thanks Rob
Cheers Rob, yeah I did see yoiur post when I did a search, pretty much convinced me that I AM NOT going to do it myself lol!
I may have something worked out, but in the short term I think I'm just gonna chuck her in the pen as is, the anti foul won't cause any issues apart from looking a bit crappy and maybe using a bit of extra fuel or dropping a knot or two.
Thanks for the reply.

I started with that then
I started with that then found the oven cleaner worked just as good for 1/2 the price

Why not simply put a new
Why not simply put a new coat of antifoul on the boat, It should last for a long time if you are not leaving the boat in the water.
This is the cheapest and easiest solution unless of course you want the antifoul gone for "Cosmetic" reasons
