Night GT popping on the burrup?

Anyone know if this is worth a crack? Unfortunately im limited to fishing after work and from the land, was thinking the north end of hearsons cove or the next bay to the north. Just dont know if I will be wasting my time or not. Im also a bit hazy on what tides are best from what ive gathered the big tides and falling would be better?

More likely to encounter

More likely to encounter Brassy trevs and queenies rather than GT's in that location. Try fish either side of high tide otherwise there isn't too much water around there.

Mate anything with scales

Tue, 2011-03-29 12:32

Mate anything with scales that can pull some drag is fine with me!  So they can be picked up at night? Im also wondering if a bit of moon light is needed.

Moon and black poppers will

Mon, 2011-04-04 17:59

Moon and black poppers will silhouette better and a bloop and stop technique will enable hookups, if it's completely dark then white or even glow in the dark lures are better. Can't emphasise on the bloop and pause (up to thirty seconds) enough. Try the small beach around to the left just past the big granite rocks on a rising tide, or even off the rocks themselves (a bit adventurous as they take a bit of negotiating). Like Jay says no GTs but Brassies, Queenies and the odd Golden as well as small Whalers will get in on the action.

Good Luck, Daisy

Witnell Bay. But also with the same tides and retreat Daisy mentioned. I did (when I didnt have a boat) give this a try, but didnt realise the pause had to be that long?? Bloody hell daisy, in 30s I would be asleep at night!!!!!

Cant think off other spot but I know Jay has tried Point Sampson, near the Creek hatchery as you come into it, just turn down the road and follow to the creek mouth, and from my recall there is some rocks to the right off the mouth thats worth a bloop.

Am I right Jay??

Yeah mate the pop and pause

Yeah mate the pop and pause is pretty much a necessity if you want hook ups otherwise it's just a heap of short strikes, tip, if the fish seem to be hitting the white water only put a white popper on.

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:

n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or

n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

OK tonights the night unless I cant get a car. All set, rdo tomorrow, 81% moon rising at 0925 pm, 3.8 meter tide range low at 0750 pm, clear sky. Time to give myself a sore arm (probably for nothing). Might buy some bait as a backup I think.
