Emailed Phil a couple of weeks ago and he replied that it was still before the magistrate. But said I should book for Christmas anyway. Might have to shoot him another email to make sure now

Pretty sure

Phil has got a station on the gulf that they allow camping at.

That is where we'll be looking into if this happens. Just not sure how hot it'll get in there in summer, and if the kids can swim safely.

Ningaloo Station homepage has

Fri, 2019-03-22 23:01

Ningaloo Station homepage has a section on Exmouth Gulf Station, says camping hopefully up and running in 2018.

Will be at Ningaloo in 4 wks so be interesting to see what their plans are, maybe need bolt cutters to get to our booked site.

After reading the very long draft proposal in the following link its not as bad as what was on the cards a few yrs ago when the leases all expired. Prices will no doubt go up but as long as the roads are still bad to keep the hoards away I can live with a few closed tracks and more defined sites. Steep Point, Dirk Hartog and Cape Peron are all Dpaw controlled and still great places to camp. When all the stations are like Cape Range camping we have a real problem. www.fishwrecked.com/forum/dpaw-management-plan-ningaloo-coast

We went to Giralia for something different in Oct 2018. It was nice and quiet, only a few camp sites and very spread out. Water is very tidal and therefore dirty so not great for swimming, and at low tide it was a very long walk to find water. Caught a couple of smaller model Macs off the kayak and a few jacks from the mangroves but fishing was generally not great. Sand flies were very friendly. Was surprised to find out that Giralia was purchased by the Department of Conservation and Land Management in 2002 yet they have recently allowed the original lease holders who have freehold of the homestead to restart the camping side of things.

Bullara Station is next door and does station stays and allow access to the beach for customers but not sure about camping.
