No bling reel
Submitted by Colin Hay on Fri, 2007-11-23 10:44
After the disaster of having the drag fail on my reel last night I popped down the road to buy something a bit tougher. Picked up a Banax iso 7000. This is a no bling reel if I wever saw one. No gold paint, just a plain metal colouring. At least I won't have to worry about scrathcing it on the rocks.
I have heard these are pretty tough reels and the sales chap rated it pretty highly. It will should certainly keep me going until Santa brings my Shimano baitrunner.
Anyone have any knowledge on these reels. All input appreciated.
Regards Colin Hay

Yes they are a very tough
Yes they are a very tough reels with a nice smooth drag system. We sell the SI version which is more or less the same reel but in black and silver. I own 2 Banax, an SX5000 which is around 11yrs old and still going strong today, the other is a SI2000 which is a medium size reel for my 10ft rods. Its used mainly for casting baits with 8kg mono, 4yrs old and still smooth as.

I read that somewhere
I read that in one of the posts. And aldo the Penn boss came online as well. Shows you this is a pretty influential site. Good luck with your fishing over the weekend dogsoldier. Colin

Hi Ody
I took my Banax 7000 for a run last night at North Mole. Unfortunately I didn't get to test out its drag as, even with a fresh herring on, I didn't get any interest. But it feels very smooth and casts well. Hopefully next time I will get the chance to test out the drag on something decent.
Tight lines, Colin Hay
