No Camping at Logue Brook

Was just told that very soon Logue Brook will be closed to overnight camping.

There will be nowhere left to go camping at all soon unless you want to drive for half a day.

Any idea when it's going to stop?....

I went there for the first time on Saturday morning just for a drive and convinced the misses to do an overnighter in the near future..

Yes

It was the lady at the Caravan Park that told me this. We're going down this weekend and the Mrs used to go to the caravan park for a shower.

I called to see if this was still ok and was told no they won't let anyone in to use showers even if you pay and that before the summer ski season starts the place will be just like Waroona with a caravan park and everywhere else no camping.

So it's all good for now but i got the impression that will only be for a couple of months at the most.

You can still stay in the caravan park but i'd rather camp around the other side of the dam.

Another case of caravan parks putting the mustard on the shires to close these free and cheap camping spots. That my friends is happening all over Australia.

Its also a case of hooligans

Mon, 2014-10-06 17:27

Its also a case of hooligans wrecking it for others. Seen it there first hand. The upside is the camping at the caravan park is still great fun. Done that also, although the ranger did come hassle us about our bikes. But they are rego'd so nothing he could do.

There is a Facebook group on

Mon, 2014-10-06 19:11

There is a Facebook group on this as well as a petition on change.org.

Unfortunately this is yet another example of the minority of assholes who smash bottles and leave rubbish tarnishing the majority and from a financial point of view, it is easier to put a gate up rather than employ a workable management plan.

I am more than happy to pay resnoble management fees to access free camping sites but don't like being packed into a caravan park.

I clean up my waste yet have to suffer the consequences from those who don't.

 Spot on Swompa! We were

Mon, 2014-10-06 20:42

Spot on Swompa! We were there for a couple of nights this time last week. The camp site had at least a dozen broken and unbroken beer bottles around the place. Aswell as other crap including air bed and pillow. We took with us as much as we could but FFS it's not that hard to take your rubbish away. Hope they don't lock us out but it doesn't look good.

That's it. If you can take in

Mon, 2014-10-06 21:32

That's it. If you can take in a full carton of beer, it is lighter when you leave!

worst example of this assheadery was just south of sandy cape. There was a bonfire mound full of smashed bottles at the bottom of a dune. Beautiful sandy beach then a mound of smashed bottled.

no wonder why fences and gates go up.

not just the caravan park

Tue, 2014-10-07 10:49

went to harvey last weekend and found a good spot to park up and fish, another car was leaving as i went in. when we got to where they were they had a fire still going and bottles of beer and red bull cans in the fire. really pi$$ed me off. the problem is that these people dont give a toss. we sit here complaining about this stuff n they just keep doing it and disregarding everything people say. then the spots get shut down and they move elsewhere and stuff things up or they jump up and down and pretend like it's not ever their fault.

felt like driving after him and pelting him with his red hot bottles of beer.

half a story

Tue, 2014-10-07 14:52

Guys,

they are stopping camping at the actual dam because WA Parks & wildlife have just spent millions building a proper camp area with facilities next to the dam.

The cost to camp there will be minimal. $10/night I think.

There seems to be a heap of people complaining about this & yes, even a petition on Facebook.

After seeing the amount of crap left around there after the last long weekend I think they should close it down & unless some people start showing these places a little respect I think many more will be closed.

Maybe a small charge will keep the morons out!!!

 Fisherking think about what

Tue, 2014-10-07 20:51

Fisherking think about what you wrote. The authorities are building these things for two reasons. One to stop the damage to the environment and two to raise money. We were all young once but I never threw shit in the bush or the fire. Thats why we are all banned from driving our cars on beaches or even taking our dogs for a run down the beach.

Wed, 2014-10-08 07:37

I suppose what I'm trying to say is, if dickheads didnt wreck the joint no one would even think about putting a stop to it.

Its not just the dickheads

Wed, 2014-10-08 08:24

Its not just the dickheads that are the problem the bottom line is that the place is just to popular and cant cope with the crowds. The average trout fisherman wouldnt see it as they generally fish in the cooler months when there are no ski boats around and therefore not many people camping there. In the summer months and particuarly on long weekends its out of control, have a look at the pic on the facebook page and now you tell me where are that lot going to go to the toilet when there are no facilites in the area. Next time your there take a walk up in the bush and the place is just riddled with toilet paper, no one seems to bury their waste these days.

 I cant stand seeing toilet

Wed, 2014-10-08 12:43

I cant stand seeing toilet paper around campsites. People seem to like draping it over bushes, trees etc. Noone wants your shit paper  blowing through their camp. Bury the bloody stuff or burn it.
