Capsize vessels

I have removed at least 3 boats and 2 jetskis from the alkimos reef due to them anchoring to close and when the wind changes get into strife. Probably another 2 boats have sank there over the years

 Yep....

:)

But he's got his board so that eases the pain a little....

We used to take the dingi's 3 mile out to sea to surf this bombi in SA, we once had 2 x dingi's tied to the one anchor when she started to drag....

We could all see the boats moving but no one wanted to leave the pumping surf to be the one that chased the dingi's down...

Anyway eventually one of the lads did the long paddle about 500 hundred meters and brought em back...

Ah those were the days, young n silly. It would have been a long long paddle in from out there should the boatshad got away properly...

In saying that there are some tools out there that have no idea about boating that would put themselves in the shit...

Nowadays if I was surfing there i'd run a coupla picks as insurance....

Second that about surfers being the best ones to read waves, we've had times where we've been recovering beached commercial vessels, use a surfer in a dinghy to get that tow rope in through the breakers  And I  let the dinghy go out the Abrolhos one morning in the dark in howling s/easter, hit the water swearing  and freestyled it for a hundred meters to catch it before it went over the shallow coral.  Wish I was that fit now...
