NOR v SOR Comp "Success"

Firstly a big thank you to Tim for all his efforts in getting this comp together and for his computer skills at the weigh in. Whilst the weather gods frowned upon us and made life very difficult for most if not all boats out there, it certainly evened out the scores and made for a very close contest. I am sure Tim will post the results shortly.

Secondly a big thank you to out key sponsors for the event, John from Joondalup Compleat Angler and Ryan from Oceanside. Without these two guys the comp wouldn't have got off the ground.

To the winners, congratulations. Make sure you pop in and see Ryan or John with your vouchers and put them towards something special.

Overall the day was more about getting together and having a bit of fun and in that respect I think it was a major success.

Finally, thank you to Alfred our independent auditor for verifying my win as Champion Angler for the day. (Talk about being rigged...Wink ..... your carton of crownies is in the mail...Laughing)

Lets hope the weather is better for the SOR comp. (Personally I hope its worse and gets called off as I will be in the Abrohlos that week.Tongue out)

Cheers

Andy Mac

FW Comp!

Sun, 2008-04-27 18:46

Yes thanks to Andy & Tim for organising another good leg of the FW Comp, also well done Andy for the Champion Angler award!

The weather was more than average but yes evened it up and i like the aspect of this comp ie the rewards of getting/targetting multiple species not just dhu's etc

After all the Northern hype, we Southerners held our own despite having alot fewer boats and i was happy with a descent dhu....made my comp day productive.

PS, That same whiting went into Shags face with some extra sent ....hehehe Tongue out

Thanks to Tim and Andy and everyone that had a hand in putting this together.  Also a thanks to the sponsers as well.

Weather Gods weren't very kind, but it was good to be able to meet up with everyone at the start and end of the day.  Was good to put faces to some names that I have only met on the forums.

Jesse the Gardie Champ

Sun, 2008-04-27 19:37

That was a huge storm gardie mate. Now go give John a hard time down at the tackle shop and buy a lure that your dad would be envious of.

I had a great day

Sun, 2008-04-27 19:44

Got a big bruise on my butt this morning but I still had a great time. Many thanks Paul - you've got a great boat and I learned a lot more about offshore fishing.
To all the organisers and sponsors - many thanks.
For the landlubbers like me it was a fantastic opportunity to get out in a boat and to meet a lot of other fellow fishers and some great people.
Congrats to the winners. I hope Jesse had his harness on when he pulled in that big garfish.
All the best, Colin Hay

Good on you Ryan and John for the support!

Sounds like you made (another) good 'investment' Andy - well done mate. 'Nice to see your rigs were working' Wink

Cheers Gully for donating the print, it has now officially taken pride and place in my office. I'll definately get you out to the dropzone soon (in better weather) to take a pic of the humungous Dhuie that we hope is down there.

Thanks Ads

Sun, 2008-04-27 20:18

Only problem was Tim and I forgot to get a trophy.Frown
I still have the inaugral "fishwrecked invitational" trophy in the office. Funnily enough it was that whiting that got me over the line again Sherbs. Laughing
And not a dhuie or KG in sight.
I think we all envied Ryan and Pete's bag of Dhuie and Baldie, but the points were stacked for gardies, whiting and skippy etc.
Unfortunately (or fortunately...depending on how you look at it) I will be at the Abrohlos for the next round so the overall title is certainly up for grabs.

Another well organised leg

Mon, 2008-04-28 14:00

Another well organised leg of the comp, too bad the weather wasn't organised before hand but that's what always happens when you plan ahead.  Well done to all the those die hard fishers ,that braved the conditions, as it was a very hard day out there. I wanted to hit the bank but i couldnt put my self through that much punishment to get back in ,was bad enough coming in from 14 mile out ,then heading to quinns ,then shooting close to the coast to try and save our backs.Seemed to work a bit , Think the four southerner boats gave you 10 + northerner boaties a run for your money.Cant wait for the southern leg ,you northerners are going to love it sand for miles .
