north mole, spooled, what could it be?

Hey guys just went to north mole try catch some fresh bait fish but f#%^ allll.  I brought my lil overhead down n put half a blue mackeral on two snelled hooks wit running sinker. About 6:30 got a very very fasttttt run. hooked it up and it didnt stop until i was all spooled out. I have about 300 plus metres of 25 pound mono and went within no timee. Any ideas what it could have been?

yup thats how i do it, usually can tell how loaded it is though just by how bent the rod is, thats why its important to get to know your gear, its a shame they pumping something at northmole atm the water is all dirty up now for miles.

eagle ray

Eagle Ray.
All it has to do is get in the rip and it will go out like a drift anchor.
Got my biggest one at Kwinana near the depot, couldn't get it round the jetty, which was probably a good thing as no one round to help me.
Couldn't believe how big that thing was when i saw it. Caught on 12" of octopus tentacle. Same gear, 150lbs trace, double snelled 9/0 mustad big reds.
Same here, a couple of shakes and it went out like a boat. I decided to risk locking the drag (ppro is expensive) and it came back inch at a time.
