not fishing but solar question .

Ok not fishing related but my roof solar hot water system tank is leaking not even 10 years old . Got quote to replace it one was $4,575 . ok thats to much what about a gas unit instead . Quote $3,174.  Hmm rather steep .

The solar panels are in good condition many years left . My question is can you just get a tank to replace the old one . If so where ? Us pensioners are not made of money .

Any help would be appreciated .

   Cheers

Yeah I'm pretty sure you can replace panels but when the tank leaks it's fucked.I've just been told about the heat pump system, it basically works on a similar principle to reverse cycle a/c. Apparently very economical to run,no need for booster, the system is installed ground level and different size storage tanks to pick from
