Not your average Fish ID

I found this weird looking creature about 6 months ago still alive tangled up by its teeth in the frayed splice of a anchor can stinger rope
whilst at work in the gladstone harbour in QLD.
It looks like something from the depths of the ocean but was located in the tidal waters of the harbour?
Any ideas?

Grinner / Lizardfish
Looks to be from the grinner / lizardfish family from the shape of it.
Could be a job for the experts.

Grinner - At a guess and only going by the small size of the eye I'd say it's not from the depths,

I would have said Bombay
I would have said Bombay Duck, caught a few in the Kimberlies but seem to recall they were a bit more translucent than the one pictured. I did fillet a couple for a try and do not recomend it at all. Jelly flesh did not cook and was average tasting.

Glassy Bombay Duck
Good detective work team, but I'm going to go with Glassy Bombay Duck Harpodon translucens. The evidence I use is the length of the pectoral fin. In H. nehereus the pectoral fin is long and extends halfway along the position of the dorsal fin. In the photo, you can see that the pectoral fin doesn't even reach the start of the dorsal fin - making it H. translucens. Simple...?
