Left gero last Thursday got back in Tuesday morn . Boys boss has a 65 foot Randell . Trip of a lifetime . I was itching for first drop by the end (really .) Only using small circles. 2 rigs . I used my rod 95 percent of time ,also handline, caught all sorts of cod. Emperor . Dhues. Pinks. Trout. Even good old black ass. To many types to mention . Night time was mint .we would anchor Anywhere from 40 to 60 meters.( got ruff at times) got flung out of bunk first night. Huge squid would come around not matter where we where. Big v8 occy. Snakes and flying fish . I would definately do it again . Learnt a heap of the skipper.

Rob h yes
Eye opener for me . Dan Loves it. ( new job)And I did get my licence prior to going.Very impressed . No rape and pilage . Harvesting 1 spot x amount of fish then leave . Itching to go again. The care they take of fish blew me away. The guys do it hard . At dock 95 percent local buyers . Which also impressed me.

Its not an easy life, thats
Its not an easy life, thats for sure.
I dont really know of any commercial fishery that is "easy", though crays have certainly changed alot but the pressure is different.
Everytime I hear someone say "I love going fishing, I want to work on a fishing boat/longliner/trawler/charter boat etc" I struggle not to roll my eyes
Instead think, boy have you got a suprise coming...
Kind of like lusting after a woman for a long time only to find when you get there, she's a bitch!

I used to watch the cray
I used to watch the cray boys outta Seabird when they were there Rob go out in all kinds of shit weather and used think they can have that. It's a romantic thought but I only ever would want to do it for fun.

Guess i cant talk, here I am 25 yrs later...
Mind you while I loved it and no regrets at all it certainly is good to go to sea just to go somewhere or do something.
Not to have to fish til full then return

What Rob said
I loved fishing and diving from an early age, and kept doing both even when I was making my living from them. Nowadays? Certainly over diving on snagged pots, and the last few years of mixing crayfishing and off-season wetlining cured me of any attachment to bottom bashing--very rarely, if ever, head west nowadays, got all the marks, still, just CBF.
