Ocean Whaler 565
Hi Gents
Just wanted to post some photos of my Whaler which has just come out of the mould...
Changing a few stock items now that Nigel and Chris have set up shop from Ocean Whaler marine in Rockingham- the original helm seat will go and make way for new item, the gel coat was a much debated topic until it popped out of the mould a week ago, a stainless folding bimini with hidden wiring to get into the shed plus plenty of other items still in discussion.
I think this is the best part of dealing with the owner operator- you ask or throw an idea into the ring and both Nigel and Chris want to have a go at it...
There is a very good reason why the Whaler is used in conjunction with Nomad sport fishing charters- it works for fisherman.
May require some deckies down Dawesville way to flick a few plastics soon.
Regards
Brad
More Photos- added photos of the stainless rails, folding T-top has arrived, console to fitted and motor has arrived today...
Added more photos- should have the stainless all wired up this week and fitted, sounder combo fitted to dash, deck wash and dual batteries sorted too.
Ocean Whaler Marine are also in talks with Lowrance to become a service provider- hopefully soon so I can get discount........

What motor are you going and
What motor are you going and wha was the build time? I have been looking at these as they suit what we are looking for in a boat. 1.Stable fishing platform. 2.Good in a following sea. 3. Good cruising boat as you can use the front deck area as sort of a bow lounge (keeps the missus and young ones happy). I was going to go the way of a Fibrelite, but have changed my preference to one of these.

Suzuki 90hp four banger
The Whaler's dont need much on the back- they are rated max 115hp, most go with the 90's because the boat is on the plane most of the time due to the low draft.
My last boat was a 620 Ocean sport with a 150 four on the back and it was big and lazy, the Whaler suits the fishing i like, taking the family for a spin down the estuary and easy/light to tow to Exmouth too. Have been talking with Nigel in regards to a removable extension to the cast deck on the front, keep it as standard with the cushions up front for cruising and slot the extension on when you have 2 x fella's casting up front.

Nomad
Brad that is the same setup they do for the boats they have out on Nomad Charters, great idea that gives you a huge casting platform up front. Put all the cushions on and a great place for the family to laze around.

Nomad
Hi Rick
The casting deck is longer for Nomad and extends almost to the console, its modified oposed to the original floor layout. The bow rails are also higher to suit Australian standards (i think its 900mm high) and carry a few up front when casting big poppers/stick baits to pelagics.
I think being able to remove the extension it adds to the concept really and keeps the family happy at the same time...
will head down on Tuesday to see how we are going.
