Hi guys,
Relatively new boatie, so far fished the Sound in calm conditions only ( no wind ).
Just wondering what conditions you can fish in the Sound and still be comfortable, wind etc.
Hoping to head out next Saturday in Sound and forecast for 13knot SW wind with a swell 5.5 m ( is swell in issue in the Sound or is it protected by the islands? )
Cheers

Im fairly new to it too. No
Im fairly new to it too. No swell in most of the sound (yes GI protects) only wind to blow the seas up. Depends on your comfort level and boat size really. My 15ft ally, anything over 10kt over enough water starts to shit me
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

waves - there is a coupla
waves - there is a coupla spots out from woodies that get breaking waves in a largish swell so dont go zooming out if launching from there . as far as the wind goes it all depends on the size of your boat.
Reverse cycle a/c supply and install - Ducted and wall splits

Direction of the wind is the key
Depends on the boat, however in my experience you can fish the sound in most conditions as the waves can only get SO big depending on the direction of the wind.i fish the sound when it is too rough to get out deep, S,SW,SE,E,W you are pretty protected. I fished Saturday SE to SW up 15knts, hardly a ripple

Wouldn't trust forecast for
Wouldn't trust forecast for the Saturday coming, too early. My comments for the one just gone, however SW swell won't make a difference if you fish hard left out of woodmans.20knots not ideal but safe in in close to shore as waves don't have enough distance to build. I have a 5.75 cuddy glass
Way I look at it is..... Protected from most directions so needs to be quite windy to really cause issues, however I would still use your judgement and don't get too confident especially if new to boating, no rush and you wil get better days soon
