Budget?
What sort of budget are you thinking?
Do you want to buy a scrapper and build your own or want one ready to go?

Pacemaker
Keep an eye out for a 21 foot Pacemaker or a Baron, both good value for money hulls

150hp
Something around 150hp, Etec,or Yammie or Suzi 4 stroke.
The older 2 stroke Evinrudes or Johnsons were fuel guzzlers once you got a few revs up. Much less than 120hp and you will find its working hard and over 170 and you will be going over the makers recommendations

Johnson FICHT
If you're looking at anything with a Johnson - stay away from the FICHT models. Or as previous owners call them F*CKT

FICHT was both
Half right dodgy.
Back then, OMC owned both the Evinrude and Johnson brands. There were Johnson FICHT and Evinrude FICHT models. The troubles that FICHT brought to OMC in the late 90's led them to bankruptcy and being bought out by BRP who dropped the Johnson brand and fixed the issues with FICHT to become the Evinrude E-TEC we have today.

Seems you may be right.
Seems you may be right. Google says there were a few Johnson fichts in 97 and 98. I thought all the Johnno's were carb or the Suzi in drag. Can't say I've ever seen one though.
My thoughts on the ficht is that if it is still going it was probably one of the ok ones. The problem ones tended to blow up pretty quickly. I had over 1100 hours on mine when I sold it.

Good boat
That 5.5m Dominator is gonna fly with a v6 150hp! Those precision blend yammies are quite reliable. Some earlier models had corrosion issues, however. Hence why they came out with the Saltwater series.
