Old Vasse Trout & Marron Farm

Hey Peeps. Just heard about this place from chatting to people. I read an old forum topic which didn't give the place great reviews but it was from 2012. Has anyone had any recent experience here? It does seem rather expensive at $25 per Kg but could be wrong. And couldn't see much about accommodation or if they even have any on site. Wouldn't mind learning to fly fish though :)

Thanks everyone :)

They are what they are
a trout farm. you catch it... you cannot release it, you have to buy it.
it isnt a specialist fly fishing school.
it is great to take a family/tourist to catch a fish easily, then have them cook it for you for lunch.
better off staying in specialist accommodation.
I would recommend it for a family outing .

One of my boys went pemby for a day fish the other day. All spots easy to get to. Warren and lefroy. He got some nice trout. Even got a wild one ( not ex brood stock). Some huge reddies in deeper pools.

Plus one Have stayed there
Plus one
Have stayed there four weeks ago. Plenty of trout in the top pond, but OMG are they hard to tempt.
I (as a salt water fly fisherman previously) got 1 in 4 days (first ever trout on fly!!!!, Bucket list ticked), and the boss nabbed 2 on lures. No bait allowed.
All the trout were large models, ie not just released broods. Despite the few caught it was still great fun and honed the fly skills a lot. I didn't have a good range of fly's designated for trout and the Manji sports store also didn't have many to choose from so lesson learned - get some before you head down, which we are going to do again for sure.
Accommodation is a little pricy but it is sooo cosy with fresh bread smell on arrival and nice hot fire and plenty of wood.

I went there last year
Good if you pay and go fish big private dam. The two little dams on property only small concrete trout in them. Nice place to stay all the same.

Did you go off
The property cransy1 to private dam? The property where you stay is mint ,the river below where you stay is a cracker, be good this time of year. When I was there he was finnishing his wife's painting studio( in the tree). Great couple who run the place.

Nah mate
Just lazed around the dams below the cottages. Wasn't a serious fishing trip, mostly just to chill.
And yes the Studio in the tree is done. I thought it was a tree house.
As for the river didn't try in there apart from throwing a few plackies, but no luck. Didn't take my spinning gear as I was trying Fly, and over her dead body will the Mrs let me use hers. So modified a fly rod with a spinning reel but as you can imagine the casting sucked.
Will be going again and then will go to the private Dam. He told me it is tons better.
