one for all shark fisho's

just wondering wat reels all the big boys are running out there for all your tigers and big hammers.

i'm looking at either the tiagra 50w, okuma makira 50w or the trynos 50w, also now just deciding on wat rod to match it with. hopefully ill be putting up some photos up on here of the new rods and some of the sharks that ill be catching with it.

Unless your after the big 3m+

Unless your after the big 3m+ sharks, i personally do not think it is a necesity to go for a big game reel like the tiagra or makira. A tyrnos 30, torium, tekota, saltist would be fine. Although if you have the money, im sure a larger reel wont hurt, just back the drag off ;)

either of those 3 will be fine although if your on a budget you dont need to spend any where near that ... reels like a tld 25 will take 1000+ of 30 lb braid , a tld 30 2 speed or 50 2 speed will also be more than enough .. me personally for my big sharks im using a sealine 30 twospeed tournament on a custom 10 ft balooning rod , or if im sliding i will be using a trinidad 30 a on a poseidon bantam 5.

the idea of getting one of these reels it for 10 12 foot tigers and hammmers, maybe even a white if there's pups round, been helped out by blue water with a few nice spots that are worth going to up north. mates already got theres spooled and they reken between 1200m and 1500m of 80lb on the okuma and  1500m to 1800m on the tiegra  plus there 10m of 200lb wind on

 My mates have run Tyrnos

Sun, 2012-02-19 14:39

My mates have run Tyrnos 50's and 1 of them just got a Tiagra 50 and seem perfect , anything that can hold a fair bit of 50lb +mono or braid is with a good gear ratio is fine.

Torium 50 is ideal and fairly cheap. Holds well over 1000m of 50lb braid with a 24kg mono topshot and you can cast with it easily so can be used for slide baiting as well as ballooning and kayaking out baits.

mate just got a fin nor santiago 80 w for $695 brand new of the net big reel weighs 4KG and has more drag pressure than the tiagra but the okuma have the same. so we are just trying to match a rod to it very nice for the price and tiagras and okumas are over a grand. myself i just use a tyrnos 30 cheap and reliable hope you get what you want.

but there alot bigger when you get them we didnt think the fin nor was so big just makes rod choice real hard
