Onslow in May

Hi guys,
headin up to Onslow in May and tho Ive stayed on Thevenard before I thought Id try staying - launching from Onslow every day instead and just drive boat abit further.
When at Thev last time never really fished anywhere closer to Onslow, just wondering if anyone has experience fishing more local or up the coast and knows if its worth it or should I just go WOT and head for the same grounds out from Thev?
cheers

Onslow
I've done a bit of looking around between Onslow and Thevanard and the problem being if it's close and accessible to smaller boats and the average once a year fisherman then it will be slim pickings. Don't get me wrong you will still find fish but typically not the bigger models or the prized species but you get a feed on a windy day . If you were a local and spent time sussing out your spots then you'd pick up good fish, but for the time poor rest of us your better off starting with your known spots and look around from there . If weather and time allows towards the end of the trip then go for it, head far and wide or close in and enjoy the chase for new spots and find that big mark on the sounder !

Plenty of ground to be found
Plenty of ground to be found around the Islands not too far from town. Last year we managed some nice trout and black snapper as well as some of the biggest spanish flag ive ever caught. All from 12m or shallower. A few trevally and a bunch of school mackerel to keep things interesting. Mostly all on 5" soft plastics and pe2 spin gear.

Was at Thev in October and
Was at Thev in October and we were restricted by wind every bloody day! May is way better as a rule. We got some good fish in shallow water as we couldn't hold bottom in the deep. We had great fun dropping vibes in coral trout colours around bombies. Check out the ones that site sponsor Eugene at Mackdog Tackle sells. Bloody good value and good trebles too. Also his soft placcies are really stretchy and stood up to sharp teeth well.
