Dusty & Salty
Welcome Dusty & Salty - sounds like the name of a band from the 70's! ;o)
Could this be them?
Dusty Dave and salty Kim?
Goodness me - the last time I saw a mugshot like that Dave was on "Australia's Most Wanted"! ;o) LOL
Hey thats a good article on the Stabicraft website and a lovelly looking boat! (Three Thumbs up)!
Would be very keen to hear some numbers of that rig, such as weight Fuel capacity, range, nm/g & top speed GPS with what pitch props your spinning...Are they twin Suzuki 4 strokes on the back?
Would make a good comparison as I run a alloy 7.5 meter with twin 115 Hp's myself, always keen to hear how similar craft perform!
Also pretty keen to hear what you think of the Stabicraft when you get some hours on her in snotty stuff.
Looks like your already catching fish!
Pretty smart looking boat I must say!
Sounds like a hell of a long trip for a service tho - you sure you couldn't do it yourself? Usually it's just oil and filters - plugs etc - not exactly rocket science - & I do all my own servicing - least I know it's done right!
Might be able to point you to some how to's on this board if it'll save the drive!
Course 800 odd klicks in one day in the Pilbara is just a Sunday morning drive really!! :big grin:
Looking forward to hearing more David - have been thinking about a smaller RIB type boat myself around 5.8 to 6.0 meters...as a auxilliary tender to the 7.5 for fly fishing out of...and was thinking about stabicraft type vessel!
Cheers n beers!

3 thumbs up!
Salty Dave
They are some really good numbers out of twin 115 HP's - you would have to be happy with those numbers! Possibly you could spin 17 inch pitch props maybe??...as long as your rpm's didn't drop.
Mine must weigh a lil bit more than yours (2800KG's lightship) (with 320 litres fuel, 2 x 160 transverse tanks), I run ~30 knots at 5500 rpms spinning 15's on the 115 Honda's!
Your a good 5 - 6 knots ahead me @ WOT, by the look!
I use about 2.5 - 3.0 litres/Nm - giving me a "safe" operating range of about 80Nm (40 out & 40 back) with 40Nm in reserve.
I suspect being a bit lighter / faster, with taller pitch props, you might be getting closer to 2.0 - 2.5 litres / Nm giving you say
80 - 100NM (40 - 50 out & back) range with 40Nm - 50m in reserve!
What do you consider your "safe working range" in Elapsed Nmiles? (1/3rd out 1/3rd back & 1/3rd reserve)?. (Would my guess above go close?)..
Just curious - when you talk about going waaay wide is all, coz of course once you get there - you have to use a bit to troll for hours!!
For what it's worth, I take spare gogo juice in 3 x 60 litre metal drums for long offshore runs (one lashed into each back corner, one in the footwell of the cabin) - like the 54 NM one way, to the Wallabies group @ the Abrolhos Ils etc. Effectively this gives me almost 50% extra range again!
Imagine if your stabicrafts sponsons were spare fuel tanks....you could go to Africa (and back) and still have the bouyancy safety factor since fuels lighter than water! ;o)
Just thinkin out loud!
Cheers!

sinkers
just making a heap of sinkers up.ive found it easy to go to the tip find a few bits of old tube round or square cut them to length depending on what weight you want grab an old bit of wood drill holes in it put a welding rod in each one sit your cut of tube over each rod and pour lead bloody easy weigh the first few to get your required weight 30 or 40 beers later you have enough sinkers
cheers salty
