outboard service

 hey guys,

i have just had my outboard serviced but feel a bit ripped off, as none of the grease points on the motor appear to have been greased. Can see no vissible signs of fresh grease oozing out, like i normally see when i do my own regular maintenance. After paying $700.00, i am thinking i wont use that particular moble marine mechanic again

I would ring him and voice your concern and ask if they were actually done before writing him off completely...

Question the service provider

If the answers you get are not to your satisfaction the solution has been provided by others who seem more than happy to put forward the name of some one they have confidence in.

This is what you need in a service provider, it provides that bit more of confidence when out on the water.

Your not alone Wez. Had the same issue last service from a local authorised Suzuki Dealer. Dry grease nipples and cowling bolts left undone. Spoke with service agent who said he did them and l wss being fussy. then l sent him the photos l took with a heated message telling him l pay him to do the work and l shouldnt have to quality control his work. Coincidently suzuki sent me a questionair asking me to rate the authorised dealers service.

He didnt get a glowing report. Never heard back from suzuki regarding this.

Give Lee Paxman a ring at Riptide Marine 0412398204, honest, relaible and cost effective he is young and very knowlegeble. Worked for the dealerships now gone out on his own, is fully mobile  and gets the job done with a minimum of fuss. No short cuts here.

Thieving pricks

Wed, 2017-10-11 19:21

most of them are thieving pricks like all mechanics. Yes I understand there will be some ppl on this site who are either marine or auto mechanics but it's true and I'm not pointing the finger at you. Very hard to find someone you can trust. Maybe I have just picked the wrong ppl and had bad experiences. Thankfully I have finally found 2 I trust
