Parking fine
Submitted by Anonymous on Sat, 2016-12-10 15:04
Hi all, I parked my mates car with boat trailer at ocean reef Marina today to pull our pots, I went and bought the ticket and placed it on the dash. somehow without me bloody noticing the ticket has fallen off the dash and landed next to the park brake out of site. I've returned to the car later on to find the 60 buck fine on the screen. would I be able to dispute the fine since I bought a ticket originally??? bloody hope so

City of Joondalup isn’t it ,
City of Joondalup isn’t it , their comeback would most probably be “ it’s your responsibility to make sure the ticket is correctly displayed “ but have a crack here’s the link to their Infringement Appeal Form, maybe take a pic of the ticket and throw in a Stat Dec with a couple of witnesses signatures that the ticket was purchased .

Same thing happened to me...
....at Mandurah Ocean Marina...I knew it was my responsibility to display it properly but tried it on anyway and the shire waived the fine. Then it happened AGAIN a month or so later so I pretty much had to eat that one!
So yeah, if you've got the time and patience, can't hurt to plead your case!

Gods Country - South of the river
Maybe next time come for a fish south of the river in the free parking. Feel sorry for you guys north of the river where facilities are at a premium and can't handle the growing population.

Yep
I've still got the ticket and yes it's got the time of purchase, bought it on my card so I'll have it on my statement too, definitely gonna try and dispute it. it's got me fucked how it fell off the dash though

be careful
when closing your doors. they can create a lot of wind if you close them quickly.
i`ve had this happen to me before and now i always look back to make sure
the ticket is still on the dash after i`ve closed the door

Not sure about ocean reef but some tickets say not valid unless displayed on dash, same thing happened to me at uni and I had to cop it

Generally
Generally the conditions say that the ticket must be displayed clearly.
That being said, you could just fire off a letter saying that it was displayed and the inspector just missed it.
It wouldn't be true but it'd be the only way to get out of the fine when you did do the right thing in the first place.

^ All good until they produce a photo of your dash
with no ticket on it.

Try it....
Exactly the same thing happened to me at Ocean Reef Marina a couple of years ago and I wrote in with evidence and they waived it, with a note saying I won't get away with it again.

Probably find the offence is
Probably find the offence is something along the lines of "failing to display a valid parking ticket" . If it is, you got buckley's chance. Unfortunately.
I have had them fly out the window before and me running after them across the carpark. And i dont run fast either.

If you have your Cr Card Statement
Take a copy (Scan) of it, your ticket and appeal lodgement ( as per link by Chris Raff).
Generally if you say here is ticket, they will think you just grabbed it off someone, but as you have proof of purchase and tell them that it blew off dash , they might take in to consideration your intent was always to follow rules and pay and it was bad luck.
Heres a Friday funny...
I was pinged in Subi a few months ago, pulled up to street bay and parked , walked to machine 40m to buy ticket, walked back ( gone 3 mins) and parking inspector was standing there putting ticket on my car windscreen ( he was standing at front of the car next to mine under shop canopy as it was raining when I pulled up , I didn't know he was an inspector he had just a black jacket on standing there no identifying he was an inspector)...when I asked him why he gave me a fine ( I am standing there holding the parking ticket)he told me I should have told him I was going to buy a ticket when I parked !
Told him how was is supposed to know who he was and why would I tell a random person on Street and how stupid was he when he watched me walk to ticket machine !
Told me too late he had issued it and I should appeal and have a nice day ...gave him some very choice words
Anyhow ....lodged appeal , got off.
Good Luck !

appeal sent off
Gave the the joondalup council a call on Wednesday arvo and asked a couple of questions, the lovely lady on the other end reckons a photo of the ticket should be enough for a appeal so I'll see how that goes, mentioned I've got bank statement that I can provide but not needed apparently. I'll get their reply in a few days so we'll see
