Few questions on the topic:

Is it just another name for a credit card transaction?

if not, how do i get an account?

How does it actually work?

Not really the biggest computer guru on the planet so yeh any information on setting an account up will be appreciated!

Cheers

Paypal can work as a front

Paypal can work as a front end for CC transactions. You can put money into your paypal account via direct deposit or credit card, and then they forward that to the reciever. They need to have a merchant account to recieve cc money. Its a little harder to get your money back on a dud paypal transaction, than a cc one, so keep that in mind.

Paypal is just www.paypal.com.au

Its basically like an intermediary for your credit card (though i'm not sure if you can top up with direct debit?). So instead of giving your credit card to some possibly unscrupulous person who could use it again, you give the number to paypal, who then sort out the payment without your credit card details getting passed on to the seller.

paypal website should answer more specific questions, but thats the gist of it.

If you're trusted, they just DD the money out of your account and forward it on, providing you have a  valid CC as backup. Its useful, but its sstill a bit of a worry on occasions as you have little recourse

what i mean is... ebay makes money from the "seller" for selling an item on ebay, ebay then makes money from the "seller" for the use of accepting payments through paypal....(as far as im aware).... therefore ebay makes money twice on the sale of that one item.... doesnt seem right to me imo.......... i might just keep my money local fom now on
