  All good for boat landing

Mon, 2019-12-23 12:14

All good for boat landing on Penquin Island- you can go either side of Jetty. Only beach landing or anchor off is allowed( not allowed jetty use). Does get shallow over weed banks,as you get close to Island, will be motor up,and slow getting close.

It will also depend on the Tide,as to how close you will get to the beach. Great picnic spots under the trees,on the Island. No bins over there,so all rubbish to be taken with you.

Take a couple of squid jigs with you, always squid as you drift over the weed banks with the seabreeze behind you.

Enjoy.

Not sure

Not sure if Id want my kids swimming there in the shallows,  asbestos dumping ground just uncovered there in the shallows.  Other than the minor mesophylioma risk I dont know howd you would go with a big boat getting in there as its quite shallow all round. You could probably dump your family off at the jetty and find somewhere to moor. Good luck

The eastern side of Penguin

Tue, 2019-12-24 07:58

The eastern side of Penguin Island is very shallow and I need to walk my 6m boat up to most of the beaches. You need to watch the tides or you will get stuck.

Per some of the other posts, the east coast of Garden Island has some good spots as does the west coast when the wind is right. Crayfish in 1.5m of water anyone ;-)

 seal island is a definite

seal island is a definite must for the kids- next to pengos

keep it slow i get my 27ft tub in there- DONT disturb the seals- thereare some rules and regs now

as for asbestos - it is wet -NO CHANCE of asbestos related disease- local rag full of s hit making a mountain out of nothing

asbestos fibres can not be released when they wet - or not disturbed

shitloads of squid  can be caught between the 2 islands - nice kg around as well- not kidney slappers but easily legal

as for swompa post - did u have to tell them about the crays, swompa

- before i had a boat was how i kept the freezer full on crays ;p
